Marty has been an Educational Consultant with the BIST team since 1997 and the BIST director since 2003. Marty earned her BSE in Physical Education and Health with certification in Behavior Disorders from Missouri Western State University. She received her Masters Degree in Administration from Central Missouri State University. Her experience includes teaching students with behavior disorders at both Marillac Center for Children and at the Liberty School district. While teaching in Liberty, Marty had the opportunity to utilize BIST in her classroom, as well as to facilitate the implementation of the model throughout the junior high building.

Cherie earned a Bachelors of Science in Special Education from Central Missouri State University. Cherie's experience includes director of a before and after school care program, residential coordinator at a juvenile detention center, Behavior Disorders teacher at Marillac Center for Children as well as a direct care worker at a residential treatment center for adolescents. Cherie joined the BIST team in 1998. Cherie facilitates the training in "Effective Classroom Management."

Molly McCluskey-Shipman has been with The BIST team since 2004. Molly earned a BS in Social Science/Criminology from Kansas State University and MS in Social Work from The University of Kansas. Past work experience includes: Clinical Social Worker in an urban middle school in Wichita, Kansas; Adjunct Professor at Butler County Community College; Case Manager for children and adults with severe and persistent mental illness and Coordinator/Therapist for South Central Mental Health Center. Ms. McCluskey-Shipman is currently licensed as a Specialist Clinical Social Worker for the State of Kansas.

Linda holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Kaplan University with an emphasis in Behavioral Psychology. Prior to joining the BIST team in May of 2005, Linda worked in the Independence School District, She taught first through fifth grades at Beaumont Christian School in Kansas City. Linda then worked as a director for Creative World. Her most recent experience was working as a Recovery Room Interventionist at Mill Creek Elementary School. Linda has been a foster parent for over 14 years specializing in children with medical and behavioral disorders.

Jodi came to the BIST team in June 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Management/Organizational Sequence with a minor in Economics from Illinois State University. Most recently she had been working in the Park Hill School District providing support for students with behavioral challenges as a Behavior Interventionist. Jodi has experience in creating behavior modification plans for students with emotional and physical needs as well as incorporating partnerships with parents. Jodi also brings a broad array of experience working with children and youth through counseling and mission services.

Judith joined the BIST team in June of 2007. From William Jewell College, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in Special Education. Judith brings to the team 25 years of teaching experience in alternative settings. She worked primarily with middle school IEP students who were dual diagnosed. The past 13 years she taught middle school students at Marillac Center for Children. She has experience in creating behavioral plans to help chronic students be successful in the classroom as well as transitional plans for students returning from alternative settings to the regular classroom.

Cheris joined the BIST team in June of 2008. Cheris was an elementary school teacher for 14 years and an assistant principal for 2 years. Her educational background includes a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Saint Mary, Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Kansas and Administrative Credentials from Emporia State University. She is a Milken National Educator and brings passion about finding success for students both behaviorally and academically. She is an adjunct professor for a consortium of universities, including Baker University, Mid America Nazarene, and University of Saint Mary where she teaches Masters level coursework for Adaptive Special Education.

Debbie joined the BIST team in July of 2008. She earned a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Hawaii and a B.S. degree from Kansas State University in Social Work and Child and Family Development. Debbie has worked with students with behavior disorders for the past 25 years. BIST was incorporated in the structure of the alternative programs in the Liberty and Raytown school districts, where Debbie served as principal.

Chris has 18 years of experience teaching at the elementary level, and her strengths lie in working with early childhood students and families. Most of those years were spent teaching in a Multi-Age program, allowing her to work with families for several years. Outside of the classroom she has been a Leadership Training director at an area camp where she worked with high school youth. She received her education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Shelly is one of the new members of the BIST Team. Her educational background includes a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Buena Vist College, a Masters Degree as an Elementary Guidance Couselor from Iowa State University, an endorsement in Elementary Administration, also from Iowa State University and she is currently working on her Secondary Counseling endorsement from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She has taught in Iowa, Florida and now, Nebraska.

Terri Sievers is one of three new consultants joining the BIST Team. Terri earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri, as well as a Masters of Arts in Reading Education and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration from UMKC. She taught for more than 30 years at the elementary and middle level as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, and language arts teacher. In addition, she worked as a District Mentor supporting new teachers, supervising student interns, and facilitating graduate courses. Recently, Terri was part of a team that implemented a school-within-a school model incorporating BIST to support at-risk students in the regular school setting. Terri is passionate about lifelong learning.
